The film premiered at the International Film Festival Oldenburg, often referred to as the “European Sundance,” and received widespread acclaim across Germany.
Leberhaken’s success paved the way for its American adaptation, Uppercut, where Torsten took on the challenge of adapting his original work to fit the American cultural landscape while preserving the raw intimacy that made the original so compelling. As both the director and writer of Uppercut, Torsten’s approach is deeply character-driven, with a focus on authenticity and emotional truth. His ability to draw out nuanced performances from his actors is a testament to his profound understanding of the human condition, as well as his commitment to telling stories that resonate on a profound level.
