Attention! This piece is not a drill Swifties! Taylor Swift has released a brand new album, “folklore” that is available in eight different deluxe editions of both CDS and vinyl today! She explained via her Instagram post yesterday that “each deluxe edition has unique covers, photos, and artwork.” Whether that changes in the future and they will be available elsewhere has yet to be determined at this time. The standard edition of the album includes sixteen songs, but on the deluxe editions, fans can attain an extra track entitled “the lakes.”
Some musicians have enjoyed their downtime during this time. Taylor Swift upped her game. Although this comes as a surprise to all of us, Swift had plans to release an album this summer. In another Instagram post, she wrote: “Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that DID happen. And that thing is my 8th studio album, folklore. Surprise 🤗. Tonight at midnight, I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into.”
Despite writing this music in isolation, there were people she managed to work with during this time who she also takes the time to thank in the Instagram post.
In addition to the album release, there is also additional merchandise for sale on her website as well. One of the biggest surprises for me is the release of the “folklore” album on cassette. She also has a cardigan, hoodie, and two pullover options. In addition to those items, one can also purchase a T-shirt, a phone case, a phone stand, or a lithograph as well. To make these purchases even better, every single item listed above also includes a copy of the standard digital album of “folklore.”
Swifties better act quickly to purchase the multiple versions of the album as the site states, Collector Deluxe CD & Vinyl Editions available while supplies last, through July 30 at 11:59 P.M. ET.
If this was not enough to excite fans, she also revealed that there is a video on its way at midnight ET as well! In her last Instagram post for the day, she thanked those who worked on the video with her, which she wrote and directed, as well as stated: “The entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspector, everyone wore masks, and stayed away from each other.” She even took a moment to jokingly say, “I even did my own hair, makeup, and styling 😂.”
