Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote are back at it with the incredibly action packed horror-thriller, The Wrath of Becky.

Synopsis: Two years after she escaped a violent attack on her family, Becky attempts to rebuild her life in the care of an older woman – a kindred spirit named Elena. But when a group known as the “Noble Men” break into their home, attack them, and take her beloved dog, Diego, Becky must return to her old ways to protect herself and her loved ones.

Written and directed by Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote, The Wrath of Becky stars Lulu Wilson, Seann William Scott, Denise Burse, Jill Larson, Courtney Gains, Michael Sirow, Aaron Dalla Villa, Matt Angel, and Kate Siegel.

In 2017, Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote partnered and independently wrote, produced, and directed their first feature film, The Open House. The film, a thriller starring Dylan Minnette, was acquired by Netflix as a Netflix Original Film, and was given a global release across all territories. It would quickly become one of Netflix’s most watched thrillers to date. Three years later, Angel and Coote return to Netflix to direct Hypnotic, a psychological thriller starring Kate Siegel, Jason O’Mara, and Dulé Hill.

Currently, Angel and Coote are in development on a number of projects in both features and TV.

Directors’ Statement:

There’s nothing like a good revenge film. Maybe everyone feels that way. Or maybe that’s just us, given we’ve both been in therapy for a considerable portion of our adult lives, and need to find our catharsis somewhere. The point is, when we were approached to write and direct a sequel to Becky, we said yes without hesitation. A movie about a 16-year-old girl with anger management issues, slaughtering a bunch of irredeemables in the most violent ways possible? Yeah… we’ll make that movie.

All great sequels build upon what made their predecessors successful: they evolve; they take the time to establish the new intricacies of a familiar character; they build upon the original audience’s desires, while simultaneously bringing new fans into the fold. We set out to make The Wrath of Becky that sequel.

From the first frame, we wanted to subvert the expectations of anyone who has seen the first film —to elevate what we saw as a franchise-worthy character to the next level. We wanted to make Becky a symbolic force —a vigilante —hellbent on destroying some of the darkness we see in the headlines today. And, most importantly, we wanted The Wrath of Becky to continue our heroine’s quest for justice. This is a girl who will fight for what she loves most, by any means necessary, no matter the cost —and she may even enjoy herself in the process.
