We got to speak with Asher Grodman, one of the ghostly residents of CBS’s hit comedy, “Ghosts” about what season 3 has in store as well as the exciting renewal news.
Asher shines as Trevor, the “finance bro” who died in the 1990s partying at a drug-fueled rager and now has to walk through eternity with no pants.
Written by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman based on the British series, “Ghosts” follows a young couple, Samantha (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), whose dreams come true when they inherit a beautiful country house, only to find it’s both falling apart and inhabited by many of the deceased previous residents.
“Ghosts” also stars Brandon Scott Jones (Isaac), Richie Moriarty (Pete), Danielle Pinnock (Alberta), Román Zaragoza (Sasappis), Sheila Carrasco (Flower), Rebecca Wisocky (Hetty), and Devan Chandler Long (Thorfinn).
Check out our interview with Asher!
What’s in store for Trevor this season?
Asher: Season three is a rich one. Fewer episodes but packed to the brim with new insights and discoveries about the main eight ghosts. We’ve gotten a peek into Trevor as a financial advisor, up next, his brother is coming to visit Woodstone, and we might have a wedding coming down the pipeline. Can you say Bachelor Party?
Lots of crazy things have been happening already. What has been your favorite part of this season?
Asher: There’s been a lot that I’ve loved but my favorite is something I can’t reveal. Hint: it involves the resolution of our ‘missing Flower’ storyline.
I loved that Trevor was helping Sam and Jay invest Isaac’s money, if you were given the chance, would you trust Trevor to help you with your finances?
Asher: Yes, but he can’t have everything. I trust him, but I don’t TRUST him
Trevor taking hours to log in was funny. What would Trevor use as a password? Is he a random letter/number combo guy or would he use important words or dates?
Asher: Safe to say that every Trevor password would be a sexual joke or innuendo. Even if it compromises security.
In looking forward to the rest of the season, what can we expect? Is there anything you can tease?
Asher: Some more powers will be revealed. There’s a Pete storyline that’s going to going to rock Ghost-dom!
What is something that you are very excited for people to see?
Asher: The end of our ‘missing Flower’ storyline. Just like the mystery of Trevor’s pants, no one’s going to see this one coming! Shoutout to our brilliant writers room and show runners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. Keep Watching!
Also, congrats on the season 4 announcement. That’s so exciting!
Asher: Thank you! It’s a dream come true to make this show and the response from audiences is a thrill. I love working with this cast and our Montreal based crew. The Ghosts crew sets our show apart, they’re fantastic. Special shoutout to our Director of Photographer Michel St. Martin and our set designer Zoe Sakellaropoulo. Because we shot season three in the midst of the Montreal winter, we had to do everything inside a studio. A bunch of new sets had to be designed and built on the fly – and many of these new “locations” are “exteriors”. So we’re shooting interiors as exteriors. Our crew is using some remarkable movie magic. Can’t wait for audiences to see what they made. Fun fact: there’s only one real exterior scene in all of season 3.
When working on a project like this, do you have a feeling it’d be renewed or it is always a surprise?
Asher: We feel confident in the work we’re making – especially with the fantastic writing and craftsmanship of our crew – but you never know! We started this in the midst of a pandemic, and then a strike happened. The making of the last 3 seasons was completely unpredictable. Very grateful to CBS for supporting our show!
What is something you’d like to explore with Trevor in season 4?
Asher: Well, who doesn’t love a Ghosts flashback. Would be fun to see more of the trouble he caused in life come back to “haunt” him.
Thank you so much for answering my questions, is there anything else that you would like to say about “Ghosts?”
Asher: Thank you for watching and supporting our show.
