We got to chat with Diesel La Torraca who stars as Austin in Netflix’s “Ginny & Georgia.”
Season 3 synopsis: Georgia has just been arrested for murder during her wedding – ruining her fairy tale ending and putting the spotlight on the Millers like never before. It’s always been Ginny and Georgia against the world, but the world has never come for them quite like this. Now, Ginny needs to see where she stands when push comes to shove – Is the two of them against the world something Ginny really wants to sign up for?

Check out our Q & A with Diesel:
What are viewers in for with season 3?
Diesel: They are in for a very rocky new season this time around, we pick up just days after Georgia is arrested at the wedding, with the main focus of the season obviously, you know, centered around her being on trial for murder. and I would say this season is definitely our darkest, and most emotional season yet
What’s in store for Austin this season?
Diesel: Well there is a lot more in store for Austin this season in general, however his main battle is dealing with what he saw Georgia do at the end of season 2, and how that funnels down into his relationship with both Georgia, and his dad. This season for him, really comes down to who he knows his parents to be and how he struggles and deals with that.
Will we see some aftermath from season 2 in Austin and how it affects his relationships?
Diesel: Definitely, you know, as I said before, the core of his story this season ties directly to the events of season 2’s ending.. and yeah it does put a strain on his relationship with Georgia, and for a time, the bond between him and his sister grows, as they are all each other really have for that time.
What has been your favorite part about playing Austin this season?
Diesel: My favorite part of Austin this season was how he played a really pivotal role in the events of the this season, I mean, in the previous 2, he’s kinda just the kid in the background who, yes, has his own issues and plot lines here and there but is never really focused on much, getting to really explore his emotions and, again, how he deals with the heavy knowledge of who his parents are and the decisions he makes in regards to that at the end of the season was so fun and exciting to finally get to do.
What was the biggest challenge you faced when playing Austin this season, considering he is quite a bit younger than you?
Diesel: Yeah, the age gap has gotten a little crazy, I guess in a way there was a slight challenge with having to pretend to be this cute little 9 year old we saw in season 1, however for the most part we kind of ignore it.. the show must go on!
You and Austin started this journey at about the same age, what has it been like to essentially grow up alongside Austin?
Diesel: Really, it’s been so great, being on this show for for going on 6 years now, the things I’ve learned and gotten to experience off of it, I am eternally grateful for.. and though I have departed from Austin a little, or quite a lot, the one thing I have learned from playing him for so long is that, you don’t necessarily need lines and things to say to convey how a character is feeling, you know, Austin has a way with dealing with heavy or extreme situations by not speaking, and closing himself off, that and him just being a shy and awkward 9 year old, so that is a thing I can take away from him.
What are you most excited for viewers to see this season?
Diesel: The thing I’m most excited for everyone to see is the big twist that happens in episode 5, the episode is called, I believe, Boom goes the dynamite, or something like that, and.. boom does it go! So many pivotal things happen in that episode and it’s such a huge landslide for all the characters involved, and unexpected twists like that is something I always look forward for the viewers to see.
Season 4 has already been confirmed, congratulations! What would you like to see from Austin in season 4?
Diesel: The main thing I would like to see from Austin is some grounding in his emotions, I would maybe like to see him in therapy, and I would really love for his relationship with Ginny to be salvaged, although I’m unfortunately unsure whether that could or will happen.
What would you say to people who haven’t seen “Ginny & Georgia” yet to get them to tune in?
Diesel: Uhh go watch it!..nah, on a serious note I think that we touch on so many different subjects throughout the show, that any one person can watch it and find something to relate to, and I think that’s really beautiful, and a rare thing for a show to be able to do, I think a lot of the cast would agree with me when I say that I believe so much of the shows success is owed to the diverse range of issues that we explore.
Other than “Ginny & Georgia” season 4, what’s up next for you? Are you working on any other projects at this time?
Diesel: Well actually I have some very exciting things going on with music at the moment, I’ve been in the studio for over a year now, I was actually in and out when I had the time in the months while filming season 3.. and theres a lot to be said around that, that I can’t say at the moment, but I am a music artist so keep your eye out!
If we wanted to stay up to date with you and your work, where can we follow you?
Diesel: I am on Instagram, @diesellatorraca and on TikTok @diesel_latorraca!
Is there anything else you’d like to add about “Ginny & Georgia”?
Diesel: I’m really proud of what we have all done for season 3, so to anyone reading, if you have seen season 3 I really hope you enjoyed it and it was worth the wait.. and I know some things about what will happen in and around season 4, that I of course can’t mention, but I am super excited for everyone to see it, hopefully in a shorter hiatus than the previous two!
