Munro Chambers stars as the ambitious Gerry in Gaurav Seth’s newest film, the sci-fi thriller Multiverse.
Synopsis: Colleagues Loretta, Danny, Amy and Gerry are on the verge of an amazing breakthrough in quantum physics when tragedy strikes. Racing to complete the experiment, Loretta dies in a fiery car accident. Five months later, as the trio struggle to move on with their lives and the work they’d started, Loretta returns. She’s full of energy, enthusiasm, seemingly unaware she’s been gone for months. Are the friends losing their collective minds or has something remarkable happened? Soon, each of them comes face to face with their dead ringer. Professional rivalries and personal relationships surface and the friends realize only one version of them can exist in our reality. A violent correction is necessary to maintain order.

What attracted you to this film and your character?
Munro: I’ve always wanted to portray multiple people within a film. So given the dynamic nature of Gerry and his alternate version, I was very excited to be cast in this role.
Multiverses are a really hot topic right now, what do you think sets your film apart from others that are exploring this same topic?
Munro: I feel that our film tried to be as grounded as possible. This theory has been around for a long time and our goal was to create a story as close to reality as possible.
Have you ever thought about how you would react if you saw yourself from another universe?
Munro: I really haven’t, but I would hope that if I did, he was nice enough to not try and eliminate me. Can’t we all just get along?
How did you approach your character knowing you would also be playing a different version of them? Was this a difficult process?
Munro: It was an awesome challenge to try and keep them consistent but different in their own right. And that was a lot of fun for myself and something I always look for with any role I’m lucky enough to play.
The four of you meshed really well together, did you all know each other prior to filming? What did you do to build that relationship?
Munro: Paloma and I worked together a year prior on a film called Riot Girls, so that was comforting. As for rest of the ensemble cast, we were shooting on location so we were able to spend a lot of time off set talking about our back stories and building chemistry. They’re all wonderful people and actors so it all came naturally.
Do you have any favorite moments or funny stories from filming?
Munro: For me to be able to work with my twin brother (Thomas) again was incredible. We were lucky enough for him to come in and double for a few scenes, and anytime I get to work with family it’s special.
Were there any scenes that were challenging?
Munro: Given the complexity of the script, each day had its challenges to keep the consistency of the plot and characters but for me that added a lot to the fun to the whole filming process.
What was your reaction to the ending?
Munro: I think it’s very fitting. The ending keeps you guessing, and that was a big goal for us.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about Multiverse?
Munro: I really hope people leave this film entertained, maybe putting some wild questions in their heads, but overall have fun watching this film.
