Anyone who knows me, knows I have a special love the Shazam’s powerful but emotional story. So, it comes to no surprise I am writing my opinion on this matter. Not even a few days ago, news sources started to fill their pages with Shazam 2 and Black Adam starting their productions in the same month (July).
The release for Black Adam and the Shazam sequel is just a small 4 months apart from each other. As they will start filming this Summer, there are some thoughts with us fans that are jumping out. There are a few possibilities that could happen for the two movies, but nothing is sure until we see the actual film.
What my hopes for Black Adam are, is that they’re bringing a worthy origin to the legendary character. Black Adam (previously known as Teth-Adam in the origin days) was granted the power of Shazam for being an ethical and moral man. That didn’t last long as he got a taste of the power and used his abilities to overthrow and kill the pharaoh and taking his place. This plot would be an action-packed movie. I have every bone in my body that is telling me that Dwayne Johnson is not going to disappoint. I also think that the origin’s credit scene is going to end at the empty throne we saw in one of the deleted scenes for Shazam.
For Shazam 2, there is a possibility of a stare-off, but I’m starting to think that’s not going to happen. To be ideally consistent, the Shazam sequel would need to end with a credit scene where they stand across from each other. That way, they can introduce the third film: Black Adam vs. Shazam. Then again, nothing is set in stone until we see the movie ourselves. I don’t think the trailers will give a lot of plot stories as people have been waiting for a long time to see these movies.
What do you think? Will they go with an origin story for Dwayne Johnson‘s Black Adam with Zachary Levi’s Shazam cameo? Or will they finally go up against each other in one of the 2 films? Or do you have any other plot ideas that they could use to introduce the 2 heroes in one movie? Let us know in the comments below.
Black Adam will hit theaters on December 22, 2021. Shazam 2 will hit theaters on April 1, 2022.
