Serenity, South Carolina always has a way of making you feel at home. Five seasons in, and Netflix’s hit series Sweet Magnolias continues to remind us that family is definitely not perfect, growing up is almost never easy, and some of life’s biggest moments often happen over sweet tea on the front porch (or ya know during a margarita night in a meticulously manicured living room).
When we first caught up with Logan Allen back in Season 2 (circa 2022), Kyle Townsend was still trying to find his footing, struggling to navigate where he fit in the often complicated but overall serene town of Serenity. Wrestling with grief, big emotions, injuries, first love, family drama, and all the growing pains that come with being the youngest Townsend, Kyle had a long road ahead of him.
Now? That’s a totally different story.
Season 5 sees Kyle stepping into his own in more ways than one. With his big bro forging his own music-centric path in Europe, Kyle is no longer the kid brother trying to keep up—he’s becoming one of Serenity’s most grounded young adults. It’s a journey that’s unfolded right alongside Allen’s own growth, and it’s been an absolute pleasure to watch both actor and character come into their own simultaneously on and off screen.
Following the highly anticipated release of Sweet Magnolias Season 5 on Netflix, we caught up with Logan once again to talk about Kyle’s evolution, growing into a leading role, and what this next chapter means for both him and the Townsend family. Take a look…
