Stuntwoman turned filmmaker Kirsten Foe makes her feature film directorial debut with, Off the Record.

Synopsis: Rainey Qualley stars as Astor Grey, a rising singer-songwriter whose life takes a dark turn when she enters a turbulent romance with washed-up rock star Brandyn Verge (Ryan Hansen). What begins as a whirlwind love story unravels into a gripping tale of manipulation and resilience as Astor fights to reclaim her autonomy and music. Featuring a standout cast including Rebecca De Mornay, Olivia Sui, Julia Campbell, and Will Peltz – with cameos by Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Peyton Manning, and Edgerrin James – the film offers a compelling exploration of the high stakes in the music industry.

Off the Record features two songs by Rainey Qualley, performing under her stage name Rainsford: “2 Cents” and “Love Me Like You Hate Me.” It also features two new tracks, including the powerful anthem “See Me Cry” and a haunting cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire.” These singles will be included in her upcoming album, which will be released alongside the film.

Director’s Statement:

Off the Record is a deeply personal exploration of the emotional and psychological abuse countless women have faced at the hands of powerful men. While set in the music industry, its message transcends boundaries, echoing women’s experiences across every field and background.

Creating this film was an incredible collaboration with female, queer, and POC department heads whose unique artistry and perspectives are embedded in every frame. Their contributions bring authenticity and power to this story.

I hope Off the Record resonates with audiences everywhere, inspiring young women to chase their dreams fearlessly and reminding them that their potential is limitless, no matter who tries to stand in their way.
