Matthew Finlan, an award-winning actor, writer, and producer, has been incredibly busy this spring.
Matthew can be seen returning as executive producer and star in season two of his smash-hit, unscripted paranormal comedy series for CBC, “Ghosting with Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan.” Co-created and developed alongside Hutchie, the two actors go off-script to become amateur ghost hunters as they bring celebrity guests on cross-country adventures to explore Canada’s most folkloric, haunted locales and investigate whether the paranormal tales are true to deliver a final verdict of ‘haunted’ or ‘not haunted’. “Ghosting” features celebrity guests including Veronika Slowikowska, Joel Oulette, Percy Hynes White, Humberly Gonzáles, Krista Nazaire, Nikki Roumel, Jordan Connor, and Priyanka.
In addition to his spooky, real-life explorations, Matthew also stars in Neon’s highly anticipated, slasher-horror feature Hell of a Summer, alongside Finn Wolfhard, Billy Bryk, and Fred Hechinger. The film first premiered during the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and follows a 24-year-old summer camp counselor (Hechinger), who arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is feeling out of touch with his teenage co-workers. However, what he doesn’t know is that a masked killer is lurking on the campgrounds, brutally picking off counselors one by one. Matthew is a scene stealer as Ezra, a queer camp counselor who loves the performing arts and provides much of the comedic relief amidst the terror of the camp killings.
